carjacking suspects in Bethesda

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department’s Major Crimes Division are asking for the public’s help in identifying three suspects involved in an attempted strong-arm carjacking in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike in Bethesda that happened two months ago.

On Saturday, May 24, a female rideshare driver picked up three passengers who had requested to go to the Medical Center Metro Station in Bethesda. After reaching the destination, one of the male passengers punched the driver from the back seat and demanded she leave the vehicle, according to the police report. The victim then accelerated the car and made a series of sharp turns, at which point the attackers jumped out of the moving vehicle from the backseat.

Detectives recently released photos (below) of the suspects collected from surveillance camera footage of the area where the crime took place.

As the investigation continues, MCPD is now asking anyone with information on the suspects or the crime come forward and share information through their anonymous tip line at: 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or by contacting Crime Solvers to submit a tip online.
