Police: Suspects Wanted After 16-Year-Old Girl Shot During Block Party

Suspects are wanted after a 16-year-old girl was shot at a block party Friday in the White Oak area, according to police.

Police previously shared that a teenage female suffered non-life threatening injuries in a shooting Friday in the 11400 block of Stewart Lane.

Officers responded to the location at about 9:58 p.m. for multiple calls for shots fired at a block party, according to a release from the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

Officers found the 16-year-old girl with a gunshot wound. She was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Nobody else was injured in the shooting.

According to police, “detectives learned that a group of people were at the block party when a dark colored sedan with possibly three to four occupants, drove up and began firing into the crowd.”

There are no suspects in custody, according to police, and the investigation is ongoing. Police recovered more than 30 shell casings from a handgun and high-powered rifle. Three parked cars at an apartment building were struck by bullets.

Detectives ask anyone who was at the party and may have cell phone video to contact the 3rd District Investigative Section by calling 240-773-5530. Additionally, MCPD asks anyone with information about the shooting or suspects to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477). Up to $10,000 is offered for information that leads to arrest. Callers can be anonymous.
