Police to Present Proposals for Drones as First Responders

The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) will share how it plans to use drones to enhance public safety at two community meetings in September. During the meetings, police officers will present a proposal in which they use drones as first responders to decrease police response times.

Wednesday, Sept. 6 7:30-8:30 p.m.:  Silver Spring Civic Building in the Spring Room
1 Veterans Plaza, Silver Spring
Residents are invited to learn how MCPD would like to use drones to enhance public safety leading to safer communities, deescalation and efficiency. The doors open at 7 p.m. The presentation starts at 7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 12 7-8 p.m.: Wheaton Library and Recreation Center
11701 Georgia Avenue, Silver Spring
Residents are invited to a presentation by the MCPD on the use of drones to enhance public safety and decrease police response times. Councilmember Natali Fani-Gonzalez and MCPD will entertain questions following the presentation. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. The presentation starts at 7 p.m.
