At about 11:52 a.m. that day, Takoma Park Police Department officers were dispatched to the 6400 block of New Hampshire Avenue, according to the police department. A victim told officers he was robbed and carjacked by an unknown suspect. Police described the suspect as “a black male about [6’3”] in height, wearing a black ski mask and all black clothing.”

Police said the victim had exited his BMW X6, which he left running and locked. The victim told police he saw a black Dodge Charger with black tinted windows drive into the lot and park nearby. When the victim left the store, he saw the suspect trying to open his driver’s side door.

The suspect chased the victim and pointed a handgun at him, demanding his fob/keys and wallet. Police said the suspect took the BMW X6 and the victim’s personal property before fleeing southbound on New Hampshire Avenue towards Washington, D.C. followed by the Dodge Charger.
