Purple Line Construction Leads to Long-Term Closure of Arliss Street

Construction of the Purple Line’s Long Branch Station will lead to a long-term closure of Arliss Street between Piney Branch Road and Garland Avenue in Silver Spring beginning on or about July 10 and is expected to continue through to August 2024.

As a result of the closure, vehicles and pedestrians will need to reach the Long Branch Library and Flower Branch Apartment parking lots located on Garland Avenue by turning north on Flower Avenue and east on Plymouth Street. This also means “No Parking” areas on Walden Road, as well as surrounding streets, will be strictly enforced to maintain easy access.

A temporary driveway on Piney Branch Road will also be built as another way for vehicles to reach the Flower Branch Apartments.

Crews will be installing utilities and working on the station between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on weekdays and weekends. More information and the construction map can be found here. To receive more construction updates, sign up for the Purple Line Transit Partners’ notification system here.
