A rabid fox continues to roam free in Rockville since Saturday, after attacking a woman and two dogs. Both incidents occurred in the Rockville neighborhoods of Potomac Woods and Horizon Hills, according to the city’s police department.
Rockville City Police Department said a woman came in contact with the fox and sustained a minor injury while trying to separate her dog from the wild animal on Saturday, June 6. Prior to that event, police received a report the fox attacked another dog in the area.
As of Tuesday morning, Rockville police told MCM news they have received several calls from concerned residents, but do not know the whereabouts of the fox.
Police are now urging residents to keep their pets indoors or closely supervised and leashed while outdoors, and to stay aware of any suspicious animals roaming loose.
“Avoid approaching any fox or wild animal that appears aggressive, disoriented, unusually bold, or sick,” police said in a statement.
Anyone who spots an aggressive fox or suspicious animal activity is urged to contact the Rockville City Police Department immediately at 240-314-8900.
