Rio Lakefront Carousel Set to Reopen During St. Patrick’s Day Festivities

The carousel at Rio lakefront in Gaithersburg will reopen Saturday with temperatures on the rise.

The reopening is part of the city’s St. Patrick’s Day celebration, which kicks off with a parade at 10 a.m.

The carousel is Americana themed and allows for up to 38 adults and 30 children passengers, along with wheelchair access.

Guests can purchase a day pass that includes unlimited rides for $7, while adults ride free with a child under 42 inches tall. There is also a $31 ticket book option, which grants 10 single rides or 5 unlimited ride day passes.

Rio lakefront shopping center was developed around the turn of the century and underwent a $30 million renovation in 2020.
