As Election Day Nears, Forum Features Rockville City Candidates

With Election Day just over a month away, Community Reach of Montgomery County along with Rainbow Place Shelter hosted a forum with candidates for both the Rockville Mayor and City Council on Oct. 5. The forum was held at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre in Rockville.

Rockville 11 televised the forum. Watch below:

Joe Yasharoff, Montgomery Community Media’s Director of Content, moderated the first forum with 10 of the 12 candidates for City Council.

The 10 participating candidates are Danniel Belay, Izola (Zola) Shaw, David Myles (incumbent), Ricky F. Mui, Richard Gottfried, Barry Jackson, Anita Neal Powell, Adam Van Grack, Marissa Valeri, and Kate Fulton.

The two candidates not present at the forum were Harold Hodges and Paul Scott.

Chuck Short, Special Assistant to the Montgomery County Executive, moderated the second forum with the two candidates for Mayor. They are Monique Ashton and Mark Pierzchala (current city Councilmember).

Two additional candidate forums take place this week.

On Wednesday, Oct. 11 at King Farm Community Center a candidates forum takes place starting a 7 p.m. MCM will stream the second forum live.

The second forum takes place on Thursday, Oct. 12 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Rockville Senior Center. Rockville 11 will broadcast the forum live.

 

Voting in this Election

Election Day is Nov. 7.

Election ballots will be mailed to all registered voters on Oct. 13. There are three ways to vote.

  1. Return completed ballot through the mail to the City by 8 p.m. on Nov. 7.
  2. Drop off completed ballot at an election drop box.
  3. Or vote on Election Day at City Hall or Thomas Farm Community Center.

Eligible residents may also register to vote from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day at City Hall.
