Several Grocery Stores Offering Senior-Only Shopping Hours

Several grocery stores are offering senior-only shopping hours to accommodate vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic. Below is a list of stores in Montgomery County that are offering such opportunities:

Dawson’s Market

  • Dawson’s Market offers senior-only shopping on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 7-8 a.m.

Giant Food

  • Giant Food’s senior hour includes others who have compromised immune systems and are also vulnerable to the coronavirus. Giant offers exclusive shopping from 6-7 a.m. every day.

Safeway

  • Safeway also includes those with compromised immune systems. It offers 7-9 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday for such residents and seniors. However, hours are not the same across all stores and Safeway encourages people to check their local store hours.

Target

  • For seniors and those with underlying health concerns, Target offers their first hour of operation every Wednesday.

Whole Foods

  • Whole Foods offers seniors exclusive shopping for one hour before stores open to all ages.

Trader Joe’s and Harris Teeter are not offering special hours for seniors at this time.
