The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Montgomery County and surrounding areas from now through 8 p.m. The winds may gust up to 50 mph, which is strong enough to blow around unsecured objects.

The county and surrounding areas are also under a severe thunderstorm watch from now until 10 p.m.
JUST IN: Severe thunderstorm watch issued for entire DC area through 10p. Wind advisory also issued, through 8p for gusts up to 50 mph. Gusty storms possible in region and isolated tornado or two not out of question.

The county’s Office of Emergency Management urges residents to stay aware of the weather and head indoors if a warning is issued.
