Silver Spring IT Worker Claims $1,000-a-Week-for-Life Lottery Prize

A Silver Spring man visited the Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore this week to claim his winnings in a Feb. 8 Cash4Life drawing.

The man, who works in Information Technology, won the second-tier top prize playing the multi-state lottery game. Cash4Life drawings take place every night at 9 p.m. The top prize is $1,000 a day for life.

The Silver Spring resident bought his $2 ticket at the Giant grocery store in Silver Spring. He told lottery officials, “I buy cigarettes and a ticket.” Before, he had only won $40 in the lottery and wasn’t expecting a significant win this time either.

And what of his winnings? He told lottery officials he plans to invest most of the prize, pay bills with some of the funds and will keep working.

The Silver Spring Giant at 3860 International Drive receives a $2,500 bonus from Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.

Maryland allows lottery winners to remain anonymous.
