Silver Spring Man Arrested, Charged for String of Armed Robberies in Bethesda

A 29-year-old Silver Spring man was arrested and charged Oct. 14 for eight armed robberies in Bethesda. 

On August 10, Donnell Harris committed the first of what turned out to be be eight armed robberies in the Bethesda area over the course of two months. 

According to a Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) press release, witnesses from the scenes described the suspect as a Black male, of a thin to medium build, wearing a mask and armed with a handgun equipped with a green laser. 

MCPD obtained an arrest warrant on Oct. 13 after working in collaboration with the Maryland-National Capital Park Police-Montgomery County Division to develop Harris as a suspect.

Upon apprehending Harris, MCPD reportedly seized an illegal 9mm handgun equipped with a laser in his possession.

Harris was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond. He has been charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition related charges.
