A Silver Spring man was fatally shot Nov. 22, and Montgomery County police have charged his relative with first-degree murder.
Fallou Galass Fall, 20, of Laurel, was arrested a few hours after the shooting in Laurel, which happened in the afternoon, as he was driving away from his apartment, police said.
Babacar Mbengue, 22, of Silver Spring, was shot and killed on Richmond Avenue in downtown Silver Spring.
Police officers and Montgomery County fire and rescue personnel responded to a report of a shooting at Richmond Avenue and Fenton Street. When they arrived, they found Mbengue lying in the street with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to a police investigation, the two men were inside a red Tesla when they began arguing. Both men got out of the car and continued fighting in the street. Fall then allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Mbengue. He got back into the Tesla and drove away.
Fall is being held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit awaiting a bond hearing Monday afternoon.
