Members of the Maryland General Assembly overrode Gov. Larry Hogan’s veto of several bills, including ones on abortion, paid family and medical leave and the expansion of rail projects.

Abortion Care Access Act, which was sponsored by Delegate Ariana Kelly of District 16, supports the training of reproductive service professionals and clarifies who can offer the services.

The Time To Care Act gives Marylanders partially paid leave of up to 12 weeks to care for a family member with a medical issue and up to 24 weeks after becoming a parent.

The Maryland Regional Rail Transformation Act, which Delegate Marc Korman of District 16 worked on, requires the Maryland Transit Administration to advance key commuter rail investments, including improvements on the Brunswick Line, which runs through Montgomery County.

Maryland District 16 is one of Montgomery County’s 8 state districts. It includes Bethesda, Glen Echo, and parts of Chevy Chase. The District representatives work under the leadership of longtime State Senator Susan Lee.
