Suspect Arrested in Downtown Silver Spring Armed Carjacking

Police said a man has been arrested and charged with a downtown Silver Spring armed carjacking that occurred last month.

Vincent Adeniyi Oyegbami, 22, of Prince George’s (PG) County, is being held without bond, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).

According to police, officers responded to the 8300 block of Georgia Ave. for a reported armed carjacking at about 5:39 a.m. on Aug. 6.

Police stated Oyegbami was armed with a handgun and stole a 2017 Mercedes E300 from a male victim and left the scene. He was identified as the suspect through investigation.

On Aug. 24, detectives got an arrest warrant for Oyegbami to charge him with armed carjacking, firearm use in a violent felony crime, assault, illegal possession of a firearm and other charges, according to MCPD.

On Aug. 31, detectives saw Oyegbami leaving his home in PG County.

Oyegbami ran away after seeing police, MCPD stated, and he was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.

A search and seizure warrant executed at Oyegbami’s home revealed a loaded Glock 30 and evidence, according to police.
