Takoma Park Receives State Grant for Road Safety

Takoma Park Police Department received a $3,500 state grant so officers can enhance distracted and impaired driving initiatives.

Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration’s Highway Safety Office awarded Takoma Park $1,980 for distracted driving and $1,485 for impaired driving.

The initiatives are aimed at reducing accidents, injuries and fatalities.

“This grant emphasizes our dedication to enhancing road safety for all members of our community. The dangers associated with distracted and impaired driving are substantial, and this grant will bolster our ongoing endeavors to employ preemptive strategies in mitigating these hazards,” said Police Chief Antonio DeVaul.
