Takoma Park Teacher on Administrative Leave After Social Media Posts

A teacher at Takoma Park Middle School is on administrative leave following posts she made on Facebook that the school’s principal Erin Martin “strongly condemned.”

The teacher is the second Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) teacher on administrative leave after posting and reposting about the war in Israel.

Another teacher at Tilden Middle School, was placed on administrative leave in November after posting comments on social media that Principal Sapna Hopkins wrote “undermined our school’s values of respect and belonging.”

On her Facebook page, the Takoma Park Middle School teacher shared a Latuff cartoon depicting an Israeli army tank pointed at infants at the Al0Shiefa Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with the words Enemy in Sight! She also shared a post that gave a “shout out” to bus drivers at Dulles Airport “who refused to transport Zionists to the pro-Israel rally” held in D.C.

On Nov. 30, Twinbrook Principal Martin wrote to Takoma Park Middle School families “to address a series of antisemitic online posts,” which she said saddened and disappointed her.

She explained an investigation has begun.
