
On Tuesday, July 29, Montgomery County Police arrested and charged three men connected to an attempted carjacking following an online sale through Facebook Marketplace.
On Tuesday, July 22, a Gaithersburg resident met a buyer interested in purchasing a BMW listed for sale online. The meeting occurred at the seller’s home.
During the meeting, the suspects, 18-year-old Julian Chase Rose of Beltsville and 19-year-old Prince Chukang of Silver Spring, displayed a handgun and demanded the keys to the BMW. The victim dropped the keys and ran.
A third suspect, 20-year-old Kendric Rock of Silver Spring, arrived with the others in a 2019 Infiniti Q50. That vehicle was reported stolen on Tuesday, July 1. All three suspects escaped in the Infiniti.
Around 8:01 p.m., officers from multiple district stations responded and apprehended the suspects. The suspects had crashed the Infiniti and attempted to run from the scene on foot. They were intercepted and taken into custody. During the arrests, police recovered firearms and ammunition from the suspects.
All three suspects were charged with multiple offenses including attempted carjacking and firearm-related charges. They are currently being held without bond in the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit.
The Montgomery County Police Department urges residents to be cautious when meeting people in person for transactions arranged online. The County’s six police district stations each have designated safe exchange zones.
