Three Suspects Arrested for Germantown Shooting

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Department have arrested and charged three suspects after three people were shot during a cookout in Germantown on Saturday evening.

According to MCPD, the suspects are 20-year-old Henry Emanuel Tamba, 19-year-old Sequan Markell Ashton – both of Germantown – and 17-year-old Jaheim Ronnell Hicks of Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, who has been charged as an adult.

On Saturday, shortly after 8:00 p.m., police responded to the area of the Gunners Branch Park located on the 18000 block of Cinnamon Drive for the report of a shooting where they discovered three victims. A 19-year-old female and two, 19-year old males, all suffering from at least one gunshot wound, were transported to local hospitals. MCPD says as of Monday morning the female is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries. The two males are in stable condition.

After further investigation, detectives determined that a suspect, later identified as Hicks, shot the three victims during a cookout with multiple people in attendance at the park. Witnesses observed Hicks and two additional suspects, later identified as Ashton and Tamba, flee the area. According to an MCPD press release, witnesses were able to provide descriptions of the three suspects.

20 minutes after the 9-1-1 call for the shooting, officers were dispatched to the area of the 18000 block of Allspice Drive for the report of three people running through a wooded area. Officers located and arrested Ashton, Hicks, and Tamba, near the woodline. Officers also searched the area and located a fanny pack containing a handgun between Cinnamon Drive and Allspice Drive. Additional evidence of the shooting was found in the area, according to police.

During a police interview, Hicks admitted guilt and stated that the shooting resulted from an ongoing dispute.
According to an MCPD press release, the three suspects were transported to the Central Processing Unit. Hicks has been charged as an adult with three counts of attempted second-degree murder. Ashton and Tamba were charged with being an accessory after the fact to first-degree assault.

A photograph of Hicks will not be released because he is a juvenile.
