Van Hollen Denied Access to El Salvadoran Deportee

Senator Chris Van Hollen traveled to El Salvador on Wednesday to intervene in the imprisonment of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Abrego Garcia was sent to El Salvador’s maximum security prison, CECOT, in a sweep of suspected MS-13 gang members. So far the administration has shown no proof of his gang participation and he received no due process before being sent to Central America.

Despite efforts by the American Embassy and a conversation with Salvadoran Vice President Felix Ulloa, Van Hollen was unable to communicate in any way with Abrego Garcia.

Here’s what Van Hollen shared on the social media platform X, formerly Twitter, from El Salvador late Wednesday.
