On Tuesday evening, Senator Chris Van Hollen’s office reported he was leaving for El Salvador on Wednesday to seek the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia. Garcia was arrested in Maryland and transported to a maximum-security prison in El Salvador in March.
With no due process or credible evidence of his involvement in the MS-13 gang, Abrego Garcia was abducted leaving his wife and three children behind.
A press release quotes Van Hollen, “My hope is to visit Kilmar and check on his wellbeing and to hold constructive conversations with government officials around his release. We must urgently continue working to return Kilmar safely home to Maryland.”
