Weekend Red Line Metro Track Work May Impact Travel

Metro starts track work Saturday, August 12, on the Red line between Medical Center and Grosvenor stations to replace rail and renew the joints that fasten the section of rail together.

The work continues through Sunday, August 13.

Trains in both directions will share one track during this timeframe. Trains will operate every 20 minutes on the Red Line between Friendship Heights and Shady Grove stations due to the single tracking.

Most Red Line stations will still have frequent service. Additional trains will operate between Glenmont and Friendship Heights every 10 minutes, with every other train continuing to Shady Grove.

Metro encourages customers traveling the Red Line this weekend to allow for additional travel time.
