What’s Open, What’s Not Labor Day Weekend

Montgomery County

Montgomery County government has posted the following holiday schedule for the Labor Day holiday, Monday, September 5:

  • County Offices – closed.
  • Libraries – closed.
  • County Alcohol Beverage Services – all stores will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • County-operated COVID-19 vaccination and testing centers – closed.
  • Ride On – will operate on a Sunday schedule. All schedules may be viewed online at rideonbus.com
  • Ride On extRa and Flex – not in service
  • Ride On Flash – the orange line only will operate on a weekend schedule.
  • MARC Train and Commuter Bus – no service
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • TRiPS Mobile Commuter store – closed.
  • Metrorail – will operate on a Sunday holiday schedule, with service from 7 a.m. to midnight. The information is available at www.wmata.com
  • Metrobus – will operate on a Sunday service schedule.
  • Parking at public garages, lots, curbside meters – free.
  • County-provided trash and recycling collections will not be made on Labor Day, Sept. 5. Collections will slide one day during the week, with the last pickup on Saturday, Sept. 10.
  • Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center — closed.
  • County outdoor aquatic facilities will be open 11 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3-6 p.m., with the exception of the Upper County outdoor pool (it will be closed). Kennedy Shriver Aquatic Center and Olney Swim Center facilities will close at 6 p.m. The Germantown Indoor Swim Center and Martin Luther King Jr. Swim Center will be closed.
  • Commuinity recreation and senior centers — Closed Saturday, Sept. 3 through Monday, Sept. 5.
  • Montgomery Parks — Visit MontgomeryParks.org for complete information.
  • State offices and courts – closed.
  • State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations – closed.

Gaithersburg


Most city facilities will be closed on Monday, September. 5, in observance of Labor Day.

  • The Miniature Golf Course will open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • The Water Park will open from Noon to 5 p.m. for residents and aquatics members only
  • The Interactive Water Feature at Olde Towne Plaza will be open from 11 a.m to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. It will be closed during the Labor Day Parade.
  • The Community Museum will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Police Department Administrative Offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • The collection of recycled materials for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday, September 5, will be collected the preceding Saturday, Sept. 3. On-demand bulk pick up for residents whose regular recycling day is Monday, September 5, 2022, will be unavailable.

Rockville

Most city facilities will be closed Monday, September 5, in observance of Labor Day.

  • City Hall – closed.
  • Lincoln Park, Thomas Farm and Twinbrook community centers – closed.
  • Rockville Senior Center – closed.
  • Croydon Creek Nature Center – closed.
  • Glenview Mansion and F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre – closed.
  • Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open. For individual swim and fitness center facilities hours, visit www.rockvillemd.gov/swimcenter.
