Wheaton Arts Parade seeks storage space for its floats

The Wheaton Arts Parade, which has been seeking a permanent home for at least a year-and-a-half, recently was informed that it would have to move its parade floats by April 1.

The floats, some of which are very large, need to be stored until at least the annual parade in September.

The organization hopes someone with “a large garage, warehouse or barn” will house the floats. The floats do not all have to be stored in one location.

The larger floats come apart and can fit through a seven-foot high, double door entrance.

If a location is not found, members of the arts parade hope that the float creators will house their own floats.

Our county officials are very supportive of the parade, but so far they have not come up with a solution to this problem. But we have not given up hope,” said Dan Thompson, executive director of the arts parade.

The September parade will mark its 10th anniversary.
