County’s Cashier Window Closed; Residents Encouraged to Pay Property Taxes Online

The Montgomery County Department of Finance encourages property-owners to pay their taxes online this year while the Montgomery County’s cashier window is closed to the public.

The county is promoting online payments this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The easiest and safest way to pay your taxes is from the comfort of your home by using an electronic check, which is fee-free,” said Michael Coveyou, director of the Montgomery County Finance Department, in the press-release.

According to a news release, property tax payments are due Sept. 30 and Dec. 31.

The County’s Department of Finance suggests to safely pay property taxes online by electronic check or debit or credit card with a 2.3% fee attached. To pay by mail, payment must be received by Sept. 30 and Dec. 31. Another option of payment is to pay by telephone. Property owners can call the Montgomery County Tax Payment Line at 240-777-8898 and pay by credit or debit card.

For more information about property tax bills, the Department of Finance encourages you to visit their website or call 311.
