Police said a woman died following a collision in Germantown on Dec. 26.
20-year-old Daniela Fernanda Pineda of Gaithersburg died, according to the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD).
Officers and fire rescue personnel responded to Frederick Road and Wheatfield Drive at about 12:16 p.m. on Dec. 26 for a reported two-vehicle collision, per MCPD.
According to police, Pineda was driving a 2007 Honda Civic going south on Frederick Road when “for reasons unknown” she crossed the median and struck a driver in a 2021 Ford Transit Van that was going northbound.
Pineda was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to her injuries, police stated. Police said the man driving the Ford was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
MCPD stated the investigation is ongoing and asks anyone with information to contact detectives at (240) 773-6620.
