Multiple Metro contract workers were seriously injured Monday morning following a reported electrical incident near the Medical Center Metro station on Rockville Pike in Bethesda.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Services were dispatched to the scene around 7:45 a.m Monday, where station workers were stuck in a confined shaft.
At least three employees were severely injured. All wounds were reported as serious with electrical burns, according to MCFRS Spokesperson Pete Piringer.
All workers are being treated at a nearby hospital.
As of 12:21 p.m., Red Line trains were experiencing slight delays.
No further details regarding the cause of explosion has been released.
