5 Things to Know Today, April 11, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, April 11 and here are five things to know happening in Montgomery County today.

1. Spring Break:  The public schools are closed today through April 18 for spring break.

2. Business Expo: The Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce is holding their third annual business expo today at the BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. The event starts at 5 p.m.

3. Municipal Monday: The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council will meet tonight at 7:30 p.m. for a closed work session. The Mayor and Council of the Town of Kensington are scheduled to meet tonight at 7 p.m. Find the agenda online here.

4. Job Search Workshops: The libraries host a number of workshops and career counseling sessions during April. Today, individual virtual counseling sessions are available form 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Registration is required. Tuesday, April 12, learn the basics of using Google Drive at 1 p.m.  Registration is required.

5. Congressional Art Competition Deadline: Today is the last day for high school students who live in Maryland’s 8th Congressional District to submit their original art work to the 2022 Congressional Art Competition. U.S. Rep. Jamie Raskin talks about the competition below.

And One More Thing: COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters recommended by the FDA and CDC are available at County-run clinics. The county recommends residents make an appointment through the COVID-19 Information Portal.
