5 Things to Know Today, Aug. 9, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Aug. 9, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Summer Camps Extended:  The Montgomery County Recreation (MCR) Department extended summer camp programs at six recreation centers to serve families that benefit from the department’s financial assistance program. The camps start today and Aug. 16. Register for extended summer programs at ActiveMontgomery.org. For more information visit the MCR website or call 240-777-6840.

2. Little League Team in Regional Tournament:  The Maryland State Champs, MoCo LoCo, plays in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Tournament in Bristol, Connecticut today at 10 a.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+

3. Municipal Monday: The Mayor and Council of Kensington meet virtually at 7 p.m. The agenda may be found here. The Poolesville Commissioners meet in closed session at 5 p.m.\

4. Senior Planet Montgomery: Senior Planet Montgomery continues to offer free Zoom classes to senior residents. Today’s classes include “Tech & Innovation Discussion Group” and “Job Searching in the Digital Age.”

5. Montgomery County Agricultural Fair:  The fair opens this Friday at 3 p.m.
