1. Application Deadline: The county’s transportation department is searching for 30 high school students to serve as “Vision Zero Youth Ambassadors.” The deadline to submit an application is Friday, Dec. 15.

3. Handel’s Messiah: The National Philharmonic will perform Handel’s Messiah on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Music Center at Strathmore, 5301 Tuckerman Lane, North Bethesda. A second performance takes place Sunday, Dec. 17 at 3 p.m.

4. Friendship Heights Ride On Routes: Beginning Sunday, Dec. 17, the bus loop at Friendship Heights will close for approximately two months due to concrete replacement. During the closure, all Metrobus and Ride On routes normally served inside the loop will be temporarily relocated.

5. Santa Firetruck Rides:  The Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department is once again helping Santa make his way through the neighborhoods. The Santa rides begin Sunday, Dec. 17 and continue nightly through Friday.

And One More Thing: Popular comedian, actor and writer Pete Davidson is coming to Fillmore Silver Spring Sunday, Dec. 17 for a stand-up show.
