5 Things to Know Today, Feb. 9, In Montgomery County

Today is Tuesday, Feb. 9, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. County COVID-19 Testing Clinics: Free COVID-19 testing is available throughout the county at nine testing sites today.

2. Council in Virtual Session: The Montgomery County Council meets at 10:05 a.m. and here’s a look at the agenda for the meeting. The meeting will be televised on County Cable Montgomery Channels Comcast HD 996 and SD6, RCN HD 1056 and SD 6, and Verizon 30. Additionally, it will be live-streamed on the council’s Facebook and Youtube channel.

3. School Board Meets: Montgomery County Board of Education meets virtually at 9 a.m. Here’s a look at the agenda. One of the major topics happening at the meeting will be about phasing students back to schools for in person learning.

4. Workshops for Job Seekers: Montgomery County Public Libraries is offering workshops for job seekers. Today from 1 to 3 p.m. they will have a Job Search Strategies (in a Pandemic) presentation. There will also be a H.I.R.E. (Helping Individuals Reach Employment) workshop from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

5. Muddy Branch Liquor and Wine Reopens: Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services announced that Muddy Branch Liquor and Wine Store has reopened after it closed temporarily because of coronavirus exposure.
