Partial Metro Red Line Shutdown: Construction on the Purple Line light rail construction project necessitates the closure of rail service between the Takoma and Forest Glen stations on Saturday, Jan. 13 and Sunday, Jan. 14. The Silver Spring Metro station will be closed both days. There will be free shuttle bus service.

Metro will also close a portion of the Blue, Orange, and Silver lines on Friday, Jan. 12 through Monday, Jan. 15.

4. Changes to Ride On Routes: The Department of Transportation will adjust numerous Ride On bus schedules to improve efficiency and rider experience, starting Sunday, Jan. 14.

5. Summer Camps:  Registration for county recreation camps begins on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The county is hosting a fair Sunday, Jan. 14 from 1-4 p.m. at the East County Community Recreation Center in Silver Spring.

The county held a fair on Jan. 7 in Rockville at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center. MCM spoke with Carmen Berrios from the Recreation Department who explained the purpose of the fairs.
