It’s Tuesday, Jan. 23, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Council: The session starts at 1 p.m. with a proclamation recognizing Human Trafficking Awareness Month by Councilmembers Glass and Luedtke with the County Executive and a proclamation Recognizing National Mentoring Month by Councilmember Jawando with the County Executive.

2. Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Bus Tour: The Takoma Park Minor Master Plan Amendment County Council tour will have five stops within the plan area. It will provide a high-level overview of the plan area and Planning Board recommendations.

The tour starts at 9:45 a.m. at Philadelphia Avenue and Maple Avenue.

3. Free Tax Support: Free tax assistance for those with household incomes of $64,000 or less.

Pedestrian Safety Outreach: The MCDOT Pedestrian Safety Team will be at 4:00 p.m. at Ellsworth Place in downtown Silver Spring to promote pedestrian, driving, and bike safety to the residents of Montgomery County. Visit the MCDOT table at the Level 2 mall entrance near Ben and Jerry’s and Kung Fu Tea for free giveaways and learn more about the safety programs.

5. (ICYMI): On January 6, MCPD was the first allied agency to arrive on the Capitol grounds to protect its fellow officers from an angry mob.
