1. No School: Public school students have a three-day weekend since today is the end of the marking period and a professional day for teachers.

2.Rockville ABS Store Reopening: The new Oak Barrel & Wine store in Rockville reopens today after being upgraded as part of the county’s Alcohol Beverage Services project to rebrand some of their retail beer, wine and spirit stores. County Executive Marc Elrich, Kathie Durbin and others will cut the ribbon at 9:45 a.m. today.

3. Fentanyl and Naloxone Training Forum:  Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery Goes Purple are hosting a Family Forum on Fentanyl and life-saving naloxone training on Saturday, Jan. 28 from 9:30–11:30 a.m. at Clarksburg High School (22500 Wims Rd, Clarksburg). Panelists will share important information for families on the dangers and prevalence of fentanyl, prevention tools, protective factors for students and much more. A COVID-19 vaccination clinic will also be held at Clarksburg High School Saturday.

4. Women’s Legislative Briefing:  ‘Empowered Women Protect Democracy’ is the theme for the 43rd annual briefing hosted by the Montgomery County Commission for Women. The virtual session takes place Sunday, Jan. 29 from 12:30-5 p.m. Learn more at the WLB web page. (Purchase a ticket through today for the early bird price.)

5. MCM Summer Camps for Youth: We are offering a series of media summer camps for youth ages 12+. Teens will become masters of web series development, field reporting, video editing, and more. Not only will students develop media skills, they’ll also build teamwork, leadership and interpersonal skills. Check out our classes taught in person in our Silver Spring Media Lab.
