5 Things to Know Today, Jan. 5, In Montgomery County

1. Metro Food Drive:  Metro’s annual food drive to support the Capital Area Food Bank runs through Jan. 12. In person donations may be made today at two Red Line Metro stations.

4. Summer Camps:  Registration for the county recreation camps begins on Tuesday, Jan. 16. The county is hosting two fairs to help families choose the best programs for their children. The first fair takes place Sunday, Jan. 7 from 1-4 p.m. at the Nancy H. Dacek North Potomac Community Recreation Center, located at 13850 Travilah Road in Rockville. The second fair is scheduled for Sunday, Jan. 14 at the East County Community Recreation Center.

5. Christmas Tree Disposal: Did you know that the County recycles live cut Christmas trees all year long as part of the curbside yard trim collection? Learn how to dispose of your tree in an eco-friendly way in this article. If you live in the cities of Rockville or Gaithersburg, both also recycle live cut trees.

And One More Thing:  The Glenmont Metro Station Bus Bay E reopens Friday, Jan. 5. Route 10 returns to its original bus bays.
