5 Things to Know Today, July 10, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, July 10 and here are five things to know today. Weather forecasters tell us to expect sunshine and clouds mixed with a high fo 86 degrees.

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Evan Glass will meet with the media today at 1:30 p.m. Glass will discuss progress on pay equity since the passage of the Pay Equity Act. 2. Silver Spring Road Closure:  Construction of the Purple Line’s Long Branch Station necessitates the long-term closure of Arliss Street between Piney Branch Road and Garland Avenue from now through August 2024.

3. County Library Literacy Program Starts:  The Read Across Generations program pairs students in kindergarten through third grade with a volunteer.

4. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet for a worksession on the Great Seneca Highway pedestrian bridge at 7:30 p.m. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. The Rockville Mayor and Council meets Thursday for a walking town meeting with the Blandford, McArthur, and Monroe Street communities.

5. (ICYMI) Silver Spring Man Sentenced: Reginald Dunlap was sentenced in circuit court Friday to serve 55 years as well as five years of supervised probation after release.
