It’s Wednesday, June 22, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County.

1. Weekly Briefing: County Executive Marc Elrich and health leaders will hold their media briefing at 12:30 p.m. Residents can watch live on MCM channels 21 and 995 (HD), County Cable Montgomery and on the county’s Facebook page and YouTube channel.

2. Highway Sinkhole: A 25-foot wide sinkhole that was discovered June 16 on southbound I-270 continues to plague drivers. Repairs are expected to last through mid-July.

3. Renter Town Hall: Senior renters are invited to a 7 p.m. virtual renter town hall focused on senior issues and resources. Register for the Zoom webinar here.

4. Drive-Thru Food Distribution: Stop by Watkins Mill Elementary School from 1-2:30 p.m. to receive boxed groceries in your car.

5. ICYMI: Montgomery College (MC) offers a $500 tuition scholarship known as “Raptor Ready.” The scholarship is for county residents who graduated in spring 2022 from a county high school. Students must also be registered for at least six MC credit hours this fall.
