5 Things to Know Today, March 5, in Montgomery County

Today is Friday, March 5, and here are five things to know in Montgomery County:

1. State of the County Address:  County Executive Marc Elrich will deliver his prerecorded “State of the County” address at 11 a.m. today on the anniversary of the first reported cases of COVID-19 in the county and the state. Watch the address on County Cable Montgomery—Channel 6 and HD 996 on Comcast; Channel 6 and HD 1056 on RCN; and Channel 30 on Verizon. The address will also be streamed on the county Facebook page.

2. Virtual Friday with Friedson:  Join Councilmember Friedson virtually at 11:30 a.m. to ask your questions and share your thoughts. Sign up here.

3. Small Business Town Hall:  Montgomery County’s COVID-19 Economic Revitalization and Recovery program will hold a virtual town hall meeting at noon on Friday to discuss a new, county-sponsored initiative to offer legal advice to local businesses amid the pandemic. The meeting will be broadcast on Microsoft Teams, as well as on County Cable Montgomery and Facebook.

4. Community Forum:  Join Attorney General Frosh and Senator Van Hollen for a virtual live forum on how to spot and avoid COVID-related scams at noon. The forum will be live streamed on Facebook and YouTube and will include a question and answer session.

5. Safe Use of Payment Apps: The Office of Consumer Protection and the Montgomery County Public Libraries is hosting a virtual webinar on how to use peer-to-peer (P2P) payment systems safely at 5:30 p.m.
