5 Things to Know Today, Oct. 16, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Oct. 16 and here are five things to know. Check the weather forecast here.

1. Council President Briefing: Council President Even Glass’ weekly media briefing is scheduled for today at 1 p.m. Glass plans to discuss the future of White’s Ferry, which has been closed since 2020 and will preview a Council briefing on the Pay Equity Report expected at Tuesday’s Council meeting. 2. Budget Forum: Today’s forum focuses on the PTA community and their priorities in the FY25 budget. The meeting will be held at the County Executive Office Bu8ilding in Rockville from 7-8:30 p.m. Participate either in person or online. 3. Municipal Monday:  The Gaithersburg Mayor and Council meet at 7:30 p.m. The agenda and agenda packet are available online. Residents may participate virtually or in person at City Hall. The Rockville Mayor and Council do not meet this week.

4. Foster Parent Information Meeting: Interested in learning more about becoming a licensed foster parent in the county? There is a virtual meeting from 6:30 to 8 p.m.  To RSVP, send an email to fprecruiter@montgomerycountymd.gov and a link will be sent.

5. Making Media with Your Smartphone:  There is still time to register for our workshop, “The Art of Mobile Media“, scheduled for tomorrow at our Silver Spring Media Lab at 6 p.m.
