5 Things to Know Today, Oct. 24, In Montgomery County

Today is Monday, Oct. 24 and here are five things to know happening in Montgomery County. Here’s the 10 day weather forecast as we start the work week.

1. No School: There is no school today for MCPS students. The teachers have a professional day.

2. Council President Briefing: Council President Gabe Albornoz will hold a media briefing today at 11 a.m to preview Tuesday’s Council meeting, which will include action on the Thrive Montgomery 2050 Plan and interviews of the top candidates for the planning board. The briefing will be streamed on the Council’s Facebook page here.

3. DC Snipers: On Oct. 24, 2002, the DC snipers were captured at a rest stop in Frederick County. MyMCM’s presentation, “3 Weeks of Hell” includes an interview with David Reichenbaugh. He gives an eyewitness account of the capture of John Allen Muhammad and Lee Boyd Malvo on Oct. 24, 2002.

5. Dog Adoption Event:  The Montgomery County Animal Adoption Center is waiving the fee to adopt dogs from now through Oct. 31. Learn more here.
