On Wednesday, Councilmember Evan Glass’ campaign for election as County Executive reached the contribution level needed to qualify for public financing.
He posted the following statement from Montgomery Perspective about that on his Instagram account, “Glass launched his campaign just two months ago, making this qualifying period the quickest in the three election cycles during which county executive candidates have been eligible for public financing.”
Candidates for County Executive must raise a minimum of $40,000 from 500 county residents to qualify for public financing. The maximum amount of public funds for the office of County Executive is $750,000.
In the last election for the County Council, Glass garnered more votes than any other candidate.
His platform focuses on progressive leadership, grassroots engagement and keeping corporate donations out of politics.
He is among three declared candidates including fellow Councilmember Will Jawando and independent candidate Celeste Ihora.
