
A 20-year veteran of the Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) was arrested Thursday and charged with multiple counts of possession of child pornography.
Sgt. Mark Burhoe, 47, was arrested by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. All 10 counts are misdemeanors.
He has been suspended without pay, effective immediately, according to MCPD.
Police are cooperating with the Sheriff’s office. which will conduct the investigation. MCPD will conduct an internal investigation.
In a statement MCPD said, “These allegations are deeply troubling, and the alleged actions of one individual do not represent the entire department. Maintaining public trust remains a priority, and the department is committed to transparency and professionalism throughout this process.”
Burhoe was released after posting $3,500.
His trial is set for Aug. 26 in Carroll County.
