
Two Montgomery County parks were awarded $1.5 million in grant funding by the National Park Service’s Land and Water Conservation Fund to help upgrade outdoor recreation.
The Maryland-National Capital Parks and Planning Commission will use its funding to develop Gunner’s Lake Park in Germantown. A pavilion, playground and athletic fields will be improved, and a newly constructed walking track and adult fitness area will be expanded at the park on Grey Eagle Court.
Also, nearby paths will be improved making it easier for residents to access the park.
Rockville City will use its money to redevelop the former golf course at RedGate Park. New paths and meadow areas will be constructed, and park benches, picnic tables and educational signs will be added.
The conservation fund was established by the U.S. Congress in 1964.
