Woman Shot, Killed by Ex-Boyfriend in Silver Spring

Update: Police identified the victim as 47-year-old Monique Charles of Brooklyn, New York. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Earl Walker of Derwood. An arrest warrant charged Walker with first-degree murder, according to police.

A 47-year-old woman was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend in Silver Spring Sunday morning, according to the Montgomery County Police Department.

According to police, the woman was leaving the home when her ex-boyfriend approached and shot her multiple times.

When officers arrived in the 1700 block of Imperial Drive in the Forest Glen area of Silver Spring, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

A witness gave investigators a vehicle and suspect description, according to police. Officers were able to find the suspect, who was driving on Horizon Place in Redland. There was a pursuit and the car rolled over and crashed. The suspect was taken into custody and to a hospital with minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing. Police said more information, including names of the victim and suspect, will be shared when available.
