The Montgomery County Police Department’s Holiday Task Force have charged 147 people with driving under the influence since Thanksgiving.
Last week, 24 DUI arrests were made as a result of 153 traffic stops, according to Assistant Police Chief David McBain.
In the six weeks the task force has been active, 1,300 traffic stops were made, he added.
The task force will continue patrolling for drunk drivers until the second week of January.
Officers from Montgomery County, Rockville, Gaithersburg, Takoma Park, Maryland State, Montgomery County Sheriffs and the Park Police are all members of the task force.
Officers seized several firearms during the arrests, said McBain.
Other DUI arrests were made during this time as part of normal patrol work throughout the county.
According to McBain, officers will add extra patrols during Super Bowl Sunday. Their slogan: “Fans Don’t Let Fans Drive Drunk.”
