Ice dancers Green and Parsons chosen as Olympic alternates

The Olympic dream remains on hold for Montgomery County native ice dancers Caroline Green and Michael Parsons.

After finishing fourth in the ice dancing competition at the U.S. Figure Skating Championship, Green and Parsons did not make the Olympic team that will compete in the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games next month. Instead, Green from Rockville and Parsons from Derwood, will be the top alternate to the team in Italy. If one of the top three pairs is unable to go, Green and Parsons would step in and compete.

Green and Parsons scored a combined 202.05 after rhythm skate and free dance routines at nationals in St. Louis this week but they were four points shy of the third-place finishing team. It’s the second straight Olympic Games that the duo will serve as alternates in ice dancing. They held the same spot for the 2022 Winter Games in Beijing, China.
