The snow is here and still coming down. With Montgomery County under a snow emergency, many places are closed. Seems like a great time to go sledding.
“It’s time to get the sleds out of storage and break out the cold-weather gear,” said Miti Figueredo, director of Montgomery Parks. “We want everyone to be safe out there while they’re having fun, so please use caution when you’re sledding because the snow can hide rocks and other hazards.”
Here is Montgomery Parks list of the best sledding hills in parks throughout the county:
-
- Avenel Local Park in Potomac
- Ayrlawn Local Park in Bethesda
- Damascus Recreational Park (hillside near tennis court parking lot on Kings Valley Road)
- Hillmead Neighborhood Park in Bethesda
- Long Branch-Wayne Local Park (off University Boulevard in Silver Spring)
- Norwood Local Park in Bethesda
- Pilgrim Hills Local Park in Colesville
- South Germantown Recreational Park (hill behind Field F and hillside between Mooseum and TennisPlex)
- Stratton Local Park in Bethesda
- Tilden Woods Local Park in Potomac
- Woodacres Local Park in Bethesda
There are many other great sledding hills around the county. But, of course, you’ll need to find a sled, if you don’t already have one, to enjoy them.
