Two men were charged with multiple drug and handgun-related offenses following a traffic stop by Montgomery County police officers Monday.
James Curtis Avant, 78, of Bowie, and D’Andrew Michael Wiggins, 29, of Germantown, were stopped by police at 7 p.m. as part of a proactive enforcement in the area of Lost Knife Circle in Montgomery Village when they noticed “suspicious activity involving a vehicle and its occupants parked near a commercial establishment.”
Officers later conducted a traffic stop in the 17500 block of Towne Crest Drive in Gaithersburg. They searched the vehicle and recovered controlled dangerous substances and a firearm.
Avant was charged with drug-related offenses and Wiggins was charged with drug and weapon-related offenses.
