This has been an unforgettable month for Bethesda native Kiki Rice.
Fresh off winning an NCAA basketball championship with UCLA, Rice was drafted sixth overall by the Toronto Tempo in the WNBA draft. She is the first ever draft pick of the new expansion team.
Kiki Rice averaged 14.9 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists in 38 games for UCLA last season. And Rice was named the 2026 Big Ten Tournament Most Outstanding Player and made first-team All-Big Ten for two consecutive years.
Her competitiveness, defensive tenacity, and commitment to winning solidifies Rice as one of the best guard prospects in this draft class.
“I have never been to Toronto, but I’m really excited to get there,” Rice told ESPN. “My uncle’s Canadian. I have some family living there. I know it’s going to be a great time.”
