An early morning vehicle collision involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Veirs Mill Road and Gail Street in Silver Spring claimed the life of 39-year-old Irrael Lopez Garcia Monday, June 8.
Montgomery County police officers and fire-rescue crews responded to a report of a collision at around 2:09 am. At the scene, officers found Lopez Garcia, the pedestrian, in the roadway of Veirs Mill Road. He was pronounced dead on scene. The driver of the vehicle, a Honda, remained on scene.
Initial reports of the pedestrian suggested he was riding a scooter, but officers have since declared this was not the case.
Officers are still investigating the crash. More information will be released once available.
